F.A.Q.
What if the budget needs adjusting before construction begins?
Once we’re set to start, we’ll review the project together. If changes are needed, we’ll use a “change order” to adjust the budget. It’s a two-way process, adding or removing elements as necessary.
What’s a change order?
A change order adds or adjusts work in the original contract. We’ll chat with you on-site, then email a detailed breakdown for your approval. Your email approval ensures clarity and updates to the contract.
What’s a schedule of payments?
It’s the timeline for payments. We align it with project progress, invoicing when a milestone is 90% complete. While we can provide rough completion dates, they’re reference points.
What’s the invoicing process?
Invoices usually come weekly or bi-weekly, based on the payment schedule. Our QuickBooks emails include the milestone details, payment schedule, and payment link.
What payment methods do you accept?
For payments, we accept ACH transfers via QuickBooks, direct deposits, and wire transfers. We’re unable to process credit cards. Inform us about grant-related payments for smoother processing.
What if there are unexpected challenges or delays during construction?
Our experienced team is well-equipped to handle unforeseen challenges. We’ll communicate any delays and work diligently to keep your project on track.

Can I stay in my home during the construction of the ADU?
In most cases, you can remain in your home during ADU construction. However, some phases may involve increased noise and disruption.
How will I receive updates on my project?
We provide weekly updates, and you’ll also have real-time access to progress reports through CompanyCam. A Project Coordinator will be assigned to your project and will handle all communication to ensure a smooth process.
How are inspections handled during the construction process?
We coordinate all necessary inspections with local authorities. Inspections are crucial for ensuring that your ADU meets all building codes and regulations.
Which common inspections does the project undergo?
Inspections ensure compliance with safety and building regulations. The project must successfully pass the following inspections for completion approval:
- Underground Inspection
- Rough Framing Inspection
- Rough Plumbing Inspection
- Rough Electrical Inspection
- Mechanical Inspection
- Insulation Inspection
- Drywall Inspection
- Roof and Siding Inspection
Can I hire a third party to help manage and keep everything on track?
Yes, you are welcome to hire a third party if you prefer. However, we manage each project internally with a structured approach. We track expenses with internal metrics and hold weekly team meetings to review progress. Our Construction Director also conducts site visits to ensure everything stays on schedule.
Primary Contacts: A Project Coordinator will be your main point of contact for all communication, while a Project Manager oversees on-site activities.
Weekly Meetings: We review progress, milestones, and any updates.
Daily Updates: You’ll have access to real-time updates and photos via CompanyCam, providing full visibility of your project
When is the Contractor’s work considered complete under our Agreement?
The project is deemed complete when all work detailed in the Scope of Work is executed, required inspections are approved, a final walkthrough is conducted, project closeout necessary documentation is provided, and all payments are settled.
